Birch Bird Feeder

A long time ago, Andy started collecting birch branches and logs. I didn’t say anything, because, honestly, he’s the wood worker in the family. But we hit a point where we needed to start making things out of the wood or it needed to find a home. What I didn’t expect was for Andy to come up with something as cute as this. I only expected him to cut it into coasters.

He’s been very excited about his new band saw and been itching to make something with it. I could tell he was super nervous to show me the bird feeder when it was all done, but I have to say it’s one of my new favorite things! They’re mini bird feeders. We filled one up with seed and hung it by our kitchen window and we’ve had a lot of birds feeding from it. It was super exciting when we got our first feeding visitor. I can’t wait for him to make a few more. One local family bought two for their Christmas Yankee Swap so I’ve sent Andy back into the workshop to make more. I can’t wait to see what else he comes up with to make with all the birch we have! Let us know if you have any suggestions, too!
